Punk-N-Barry's

Well hello again Blog Buddies! So here I am working away at our awesome events, and I have decided to take a break and fill you all in…

I was lucky enough Friday to stop and get a to-go order from Punk-N-Barry’s. WOW, they have some serious décor! If you are a Coke-a-Cola, Disney, or Campbell’s fan this place is a must. In addition to being prompt the staff was beyond friendly and recommended I stop and visit the Red Cock while I was in town. When I informed them I was a local they proceeded to give me a locals discount! How amazing is that? Even the out of towners get a discount! Click here for a link to Lincoln City's Passport Discount Brochure.

The burger was reasonably priced and very fresh. Also another huge bonus for me was they did not salt the fries; they put the salt on the side!

Later that night was the Relay for Life. I was scheduled to walk from 9:30-11:30 PM. I thought I would need to stop and eat something first but incredibly enough I was still full from the burger! I must say it was the heartiest $7 I have ever spent. I would definitely be sure to stop in and try a burger today!

Blogging at the Beach

I never thought I would be a blogger but here goes...

My husband and I love to go out to lunch at least once a week and one of our favorite spots is at the Inn at Spanish Head "Fathoms" restaurant. The service is fabulous, as a matter of a fact the employees have all been there for several years and remember us when we come in. Imagine! It's like the song for the old tv show Cheers "Where everybody knows your name".

If you are ever in their neighborhood, my favorite on their lunch menu is the Linguine Seafood Medley. It is packed with fresh seafood and delicious! They also have a fabulous clam chowder, fish & chips and make a mean burger! Whatever you order, you will not go away hungry!

Did I mention the view? What a view, the restaurant is on the 10th floor of the building with an unsurpassed view of the Pacific Ocean. The ladies restroom has the same magnificent view from floor to ceiling...the number one "bathroom" view in Lincoln City I have experienced, and let me tell you I have checked out most of them. I rate the Bay House restaurant with their "Koi fish pond" as number 2. Now if you are a gentleman, I have check out the bathrooms in both places also (with my husbands help - of course) and you are cheated! The ladies have the best views by far!

If you know of any other interesting bathrooms in Lincoln City, please let me know so I can go check them out. Any excuse to go out for lunch I can find. "No honey, you have to take me out to lunch again, as it is research for my work"

We are so spoiled with all the fresh seafood here on the Oregon coast and most the restaurants in Lincoln City take full advantage of it! Someone's gotta suffer and it might as well be me. (LOL)

Here's to the beginning of a blogging relationship!

Cheers!

Katera's First Blog

Our partner in the Pacific Coast Center for Culinary Arts, Chef Rob Pounding, owns a restaurant in Lincoln City – The Blackfish Café. It’s always a treat to dine there, so I jumped at the chance when an old friend asked me to lunch last week. I’m always amazed at how the restaurant stands out in Lincoln City. The design is very Coastal without being Beachy, and I love it!

When I first started this job, I was in contact with Chef Pounding (Poundinski) a TON. We met weekly about objectives and goals for the Culinary Center, but being fare minded people, these meetings always made their way onto the subject of awesome food. He grilled me about my favorite dish at the Blackfish, and of course mentioned a few menu items that I “had to try”. On this list was a burger, coleslaw, and fish and chips. I hadn’t tried any one of these items yet because I desperately wanted to try specials, and unique pastas or salads instead with the mindset – “I can get a burger anywhere”.

~FALSE~

I can’t get THAT burger anywhere. It was perfect. I encourage you to give the burger at the Blackfish a whirl… you’ll be happy you did!

Sinbad at the Casino

People often ask, “What it is you do for fun in Lincoln City?” I find this to be an odd question. We have so much to do beyond the gorgeous beaches. A perfect example of this would be having a girls night out! Katera and I just happened to be lucky enough to have that happen this weekend! YES, no kids, no men, just fun! We decided that we wanted a good laugh so we went down to Chinook Winds Casino Resort and ate dinner, had a few drinks, then caught the Sinbad comedy show. It was great, I laughed so hard and the whole audience was just busting up. The show was some of the funniest 90 minutes I have seen in my life. Even better yet in September we have some very funny women flying out from New York to perform during our Iris Pride Festival. We will be having Lisa Kaplan and Jackie Monahan perform at Surftides! We are very lucky that even though we are a small town we have top-notch entertainment here. Well, that is it. Just wanted to touch base with you all and rub in what a good time I had Friday night, I can't wait till September!

My first blog.

Hello outside world!

As I sit here typing this blog I am trapped in my cement cube office with no windows, pity me for this, as I cannot see the beautiful sun shining outside on the beach.  Oh well, I know the sun will still be shinning when I get off work. Besides, I have a date with the tennis court at Dorchester Park. Last week I went to Good Will and bought some tennis equipment. I can honestly say that was the most fun 9 dollars has ever awarded me, in addition to the workout and awesome tan.

So moving along, back to the task at hand; Setting up a blog site for the employees of the Lincoln City Visitor and Convention Bureau. “Amazing” you say, you just wait! As I set this up I have big goals. Let’s talk for a minute about what I hope, with your help, to accomplish.

·        Start an open and honest forum pertaining to all things in Lincoln City.

·        I will be setting up “Blog Spots” at events and letting event attendees speak up about their trip live from the event.

·        Spreading information of little known ‘local’ fun things to do.

·        Most importantly just have fun and hear what people have to say about our town.

So yeah, that is it, (drummmmmmm rollllllllllll)

THE FIRST EVER VCB BLOG!

I know somewhere there is a roar of applause other than in my head.
